Long Term Conditions

womanineater-1We have over six years experience in running hydrotherapy group sessions for people with long term conditions, giving us a good understanding of what can help. We can treat all types of conditions including:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Ankylosing Spondylitis
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Polymyalgia Rheumatica
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Chronic Pain Conditions

Regular exercise in warm water can really help with managing your condition and making daily activities easier.

How can it help you?

  • Your pain and swelling can reduce
  • Your ability to move, balance and walk is easier
  • The weight is reduced through your painful joints whilst exercising so it becomes easier to strengthen muscles
  • Stiffness can be eased
  • You can feel more relaxed

"Healthy Hydrotherapy!  What a find – how lucky are we!
Usually once diagnosed with a chronic pain condition like Fibromyalgia a patient can be offered a maximum of 6 NHS sessions of hydrotherapy to aid recovery. It is a well-known fact that gentle, managed exercise in a warm pool is beneficial to sufferers of all kinds of long term muscular skeletal diseases.  It isn’t  freely available on the National Health Service and the waiting list is extremely long.
People with fibromyalgia suffer from constant pain and stiffness from head to toe. Normal exercise is not an option as the pay back is too painful and extends over several days following even gentle exercise.
Far from being written off as it were, we are constantly looking for ways of managing our condition.
Having been fortunate enough, some years ago,  to have been offered some hydrotherapy I have experienced the benefit first hand. So when I was introduced to Ali and Chris and found out about Healthy Hydrotherapy, I was keen to share the opportunity of private treatment with the members of our group.
Once, we had established that if I could get enough people interested we would be able to divide the cost of every session by the number in the group.Thinking it would be difficult to get the optimum number of seven of our members to make up a group run over a 6 week period, I was astonished that in no time at all we were able to attract enough people for a second session, such was the demand. This was wonderful and makes our therapy very affordable plus there is no limit to how many sessions of 6 we can sign up for. It’s a win win situation and a very happy one.
Many years on and our sessions continue to be enjoyed by us all.  Quite apart from the obvious benefit of regaining our flexibility and pain relief, we have such a laugh that it has become like an extended family and we really notice the difference if we have to miss any.  Ali and Chris are not only experts in this therapy, they are extremely caring and accommodating, making us feel  welcome, worthy and well, and giving us back hope for the future. Thank you."
